Travel the way the locals do. The local streetcar-system (or tram-system) is not a tourist attraction. It’s the spine of the Amsterdam public transit system. That doesn’t mean you have to be a commuter to use them. As a tourist the streetcars enable you to travel safely over longer distances, also off the beaten track, outside of the old town.
During the tour, there will be time for several stops at interesting locations where I will tell you about the history of these locations. Of course, we’ll pass the famous canals, but you will also see some less touristic places like the hidden gems of the industrial age or the art deco architecture of the housing projects of the 1920s. There will also be a possibility for a (coffee) break. The tour is customizable, feel free to contact me in advance for any special wishes.
About Arn or one of our other guides:
My name is Arn. I studied city planning and urban geography at the University of Amsterdam. As a student I started working as a tour guide as an extra job. I was hooked immediately.
After that I did something completely different. I became a banker for ING Bank in Amsterdam for almost 10 years. Now I’m back at my first love: being a tour guide!
